i want to remember..

i'll never be a consistent blogger..but i do love having a blog so that i can put things on here that i always want to remember. two big things for our family are coming up in the next few weeks - first, next week, carter is turning 2! i know, i can't believe it either! and second, a new baby is supposed to be coming (hopefully) in the next three weeks! our family will change a lot, so i wanted to make sure i wrote everything down about carter and this pregnancy so that i wouldn't forget the things i always want to remember!

-loves taking baths and has to have ALL of his toys in with him

-teases his mom all the time

-he says "yaaa" to almost every question

-just started sleeping in a 'big boy bed' two weeks ago after he learned how to climb out of his crib

-will eat a peanut butter and honey sandwich for every meal if i let him

-loves to play outside
-is majorly obsessed with his dad. always wants to know where he is when he leaves the house and points to anything that is morgan's and says "dad. dad. dad. dad. dad." over and over

-loves seeing dogs, but gets scared if they come to close to him. even the tiny ones. he got his fear of dogs from his mom. the only dog he can be around is my parents dog, but only because she runs away from him.

-not crazy about nursery now that morgan and i aren't in there with him anymore. we're working on it!

-loves mickey mouse. mickey mouse clubhouse is the only tv show he will sit down and watch.

-knows how to unlock my iphone and open any of the kid apps that i downloaded for him
-his favorite songs to sing are wheels on the bus, we are a happy family, and if you're happy and you know it
-he puts all of his toys in the empty laundry basket and pushes it around the house
-loves to brush his teeth by himself
-thinks it is hilarious to wake morgan up every morning by climbing on our bed and sitting on him until he wakes up
-runs everywhere
-loves playing with the vaccum and the broom
-will start to be really cuddly when its bedtime because he knows we will take full advantage of it and let him stay up a little later
-still has his pacifier but has to leave it in his bed and only gets it when he goes to sleep
-sleeps with his blanket, stuffed giraffe, and mickey mouse
-finally getting some curls in his hair!
-has the cutest, most cheesy smile

i can't believe how much he has grown up this past year!

baby #2

i first found out i was pregnant when we were in carlsbad this last summer. i had a cute way that i wanted to tell morgan when we got home, so i told him the test i had taken was negative. the night that we got home from california, we were both so tired and in bad moods and got in a fight. instead of surprising him with the cute way i had planned, i just left the positve test on the counter in our bathroom while morgan was in the shower and went downstairs. i could hear when he got out of the shower - "are you serious?!" we were both so excited and couldn't wait to tell everyone! we ended up telling everyone the next day with the way i had originally planned on for telling morgan. i made a shirt for carter that said 'i'm going to be a big brother.'

i've tried to be a lot more careful this time around with how much weight i gain. with carter, i seriously looked like a whale and gained somewhere around 45 pounds. i just went to the dr yesterday and so far i've gained almost 30. as long as i stay somewhere around there, i'll be happy!

the weirdest craving i have had since i've been pregnant is chocolate milk. i have never liked chocolate milk or even regular milk my whole life and now i have to have a glass almost every night! i can't get enough of that stuff!

this pregnancy isn't really harder than my first, just different. its easier because i already know what to expect. i'm thankful that i didn't really get sick this time, i just felt nauseous a lot in the first few months.  i am definitely more tired than i was with carter, but i think part of that is just because i am chasing a 2 year old around all day and that would wear anyone out, pregnant or not!

i'm so excited to have two little boys that will be close to each other!

1st birthday - finally!

seriously i am the worst person alive at blogging. but i  have been wanting to do a post on carter's first birthday since this is the closest thing i have to a journal! i can't believe that it has already been a year! i had heard it from everyone that the time flies once  you have kids, but it seriously does. they weren't lying! the past year has been the best year of my life and every day i am so thankful for my family and my little boy.

now for the party

carter's first birthday party was a hit.  it was so fun to plan, but i think i got wayyy to stressed out about it, and i will never worry so much about a birthday party again!  luckily i had a ton of help from my amazing mom, mother in law, and husband. 

for dinner, we had sweet pork and it was sooooo good.  then we just had a little table with cupcakes, oreo truffles, and chocolate chip cookie cheesecake bars. also sooooo good.

we were lucky to have so many people come to the party! carter's grandparents, most of his aunts and uncles, and his "other" aunts and uncles - matt & ruby, brian & kyndall, william & jenny, and russell & camille. it was a special treat to have our friends russ and camille there because they came all the way from utah! i am so thankful for so many people that love our carter.

halloween and a hair cut

two posts in one...

this year was carter's first halloween. he was the cutest little duck ever. my favorite part was his tights. we took him to my parent's ward halloween party and their neighborhood party to show him off. morgan and i didn't dress up. we're lame, i know. i really wanted to and was planning on it, but things have been so crazy with unpacking our house that i never got time to put anything together. next year we will have to do something really good to make up for this year. carter was cute enough for the three of us....

and thennnn last night carter got his first real haircut from his wonderful aunt brooke. the other day i was giving him a bath and all of a sudden his hair started floating and it was so long. it was seriously like four inches long on the top. i do not want my little boy to have girl hair, so i texed brooke right then and asked brooke if she could cut his hair. she has the cutest little boy pierce that is just about the same age as carter, so i knew she would be an expert. i've done tiny baby trims on his hair before when i cut off his mullet and around his ears a little bit, and he was a stinker. big time. i was a little worried about how he would do, but he had his tylenol bottle and a graham cracker and he was a champ.

a new nest

we finally closed on our house! hooray! we have been waiting and waiting to find the perfect house..and 4 months later we are moving in tonight! i'm going to miss living at my parents house and being with my family all the time, but it's only a fifteen minute drive so we can still go over there all the time. i can't wait to get in the house and get all of our stuff unpacked and get settled. i love our little house! its small but so cute and i love the area and neighborhood. a bonus surprise..my cousin jenny lives one street over! i had no idea until one day when we were out at our house, i saw her walking with her cute little baby! she is about the same age as carter so when they get a little bit older they can have cousin playdates. so fun! we will be unpacking stuff all weekend so i'm getting geared up for a crazy next couple of days!
